Drive it Like You Stole It!

When we first start training a dog, most handlers worry most about control. Later, round about the time they start to get the control they want, they notice they have lost the speed.

That's when it's time to lose the drill and rediscover the thrill: Drive it Like You Stole It!

View from 4 Inch is proud to announce that TCKC will be offering an agility seminar that will focus on this very topic, Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2010.

Full-day Novice/Open seminar will be Oct. 30, and is open to dogs competing in Novice or Open levels (or equivalent) and those preparing to trial in Novice.

A full-day Excellent seminar will be held Oct. 31. Private lessons will be available on Nov. 1.

Registration forms will be available for download at www.tckc.org.

Registration is open to TCKC members only until July 16. Non-member registrations will be accepted beginning July 17, on a first received basis (no hand delivered entries accepted during the first 48 hours).

Dana Pike is a multiple-time world competitor with 20 years experience in training students ranging from world team hopefuls to people aspiring to achieve a world class agility relationship with their dogs. Of special interest to small breed competitors, she has extensive experience working with "short dogs", particularly small terriers.

Please feel free to share the news with any one you think might be interested.

Taylor Earns Master's Jumper's Preferred 5 Title!

Man alive, it's MJP5!

Believe it or not, we hit the big 5-O.

Taylor earned his Master’s Jumpers Preferred 5 title on a rainy, very stressful day at this weekend's trial. He also earned the 14th double Q needed for his PAX on the same day.

The same day that I later heard I was very nearly appointed emergency judge of the trial by Lisa Potts, a real judge who very thankfully stepped in to take over judging when the assigned judge became sick.

Taylor’s Qs that weekend also counted as his 50th and 51st legs earned in Excellent B Jumpers. The second Jumper's leg counts as the first toward his MJP6 title.

He also earned the 9th leg toward his MXP4 title (for a grand total of 39 legs in Excellent B Standard). Taylor has been competing in Excellent B for exactly two years as of this trial.

FCI Agility World Championship Movie

This is from 2006, but it's one of the best produced agility "movies" I've seen. Really brings home the drama and emotion of the sport. It's a big plus for poodle fans. Really shows that what's great about this breed goes beyond the haircut.
